God Gives Us A Spirit Of Strength And Power
Through faith in Christ, we have a spirit of power, love, and discipline, and for that reason, we have nothing to fear. We can hold onto his promises and be confident that he’ll see us through even the darkest of days.
Be Bold
2 Timothy 1:3-7
I thank God, whom I serve from [my] forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy; When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
I prefer theologically, to group scriptures in paragraphs, although some commentaries find different points to extract their exegesis. The thought contained in a paragraph can reveal more than just a point, but the Holy Spirit’s idea as translated by the writer. In 2 Timothy 1:7, the paragraph starts with verse 3, where Paul is thanking God, who he has decided to serve with a pure conscience and determined to pray without ceasing night and day. Some think that since Paul was in prison at the time that this would be an easy task, but in reality, praying day and night is a considerable task for any of us, especially those incarcerated in a contained environment with the pressures of a rehabilitation construct that most of us never imagine or experience.
In the context of this scripture (verse 7), we can examine the reason for why God did not give us the spirit of fear because He has already given us a mind to recall all the good things that He has already done, not just for us in the present but for those who have lived before us and those who will come after. We have power, love, and in most cases, a sound mind. Will you be bold in your convictions for living a life that is Christ based?
Jehovah Goelekh, The LORD Thy Redeemer - Isaiah 60:16; we thank you for a context where we can establish Truth (Jesus) in the paragraphs of understanding. We praise You for establishing the gift within us for boldness for prayer day and night. We decree and declare the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who walk in the spirit of Truth, so that; our lives show that we do not live in fear but with power, Agape love, and a sound mind. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with anointing, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
