He Preserves Us

Troubled Times (COVID-19 pandemic series)

Through faith in Christ, we are given a spirit of power, love, and discipline, and for that reason, we have nothing to fear. We can hold on to his promises and be confident that he’ll see us through even the darkest days.

He Preserves Us

Psalm 16:1-8

Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

The prelude to the 16th Division of Psalm, verse 8, describes Faith’s conviction for believers. David starts with his statement in this 16th division of Psalm by making a partition, “Preserve me, O God; for in thee do I put my trust.” When we trust in God first, the stage of victory becomes apparent. There is no more exceptional platform to stand then in the goodness of the True God, for the sorrow that belongs to those who trust in other gods will be multiplied. Praise the Lord.

Spirit of God /the Lord /Christ, Matthew 3:16; 2 Corinthians 3:17; 1 Peter 1:11. These names remind us that the Spirit of God is part of the Triune Godhead and that He is as much God as the Father and the Son. He is first revealed to us at the creation, when He was “hovering over the waters,” denoting His part in creation, along with that of Jesus who “made all things” (John 1:1-3). We see this same Trinity of God again at Jesus’ baptism when the Spirit descends on Jesus, who was in the water, and the voice of the Father is heard, and for this, we give Him thanksgiving. For the portion of our inheritance and our cup, we lift praises. We decree and declare the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those preserved by the power of His Grace, so that; the testimony of the righteous will heal the land. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with anointing, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
