In Their Trouble - 6
Psalms 107:19-21
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!
In this hymn of thanksgiving, King David brought cause and reason to light (Psalms 107:21). The self-inflicted nonsense (SIN) we cover ourselves in blinds us to the Truth (Jesus) (John 14:6). After God has done just what He said, David lifts this line in his celebration of recognition- Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His Goodness (Psalms 107:31). When we are sightless and numb to the "Goodness of the Lord," we should sing this song to remind ourselves of how good God is to us (John 14:17-20, 1 Corinthians 2:14)! Oh that men would praise the Lord. We should decline from pleonasm, the overabundance of words, to simplify our praise to Him for all that He has done and continues. The leitmotif, ever resonating theme is that "He is Good - all the time!" While you are running melodies in your head, will you remember to hum this tune in your head- Oh, that men would praise the Lord?
Elohe Tishuathi, God of My Salvation - Psalm 51:14; we thank You for the Grace of hearing the words of Your salvation and deliverance. We praise You for reasons of praise. We declare and decree the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who know Your Deliverance; so that, as we increase in our Trust (Jesus), we surrender the stress of pain. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
