Healing Pain During Covid-19
These verses collectively and individually address our pain, how we identify with adversity, and answers from God. This collection of comforting scriptures will help guide you toward whole and complete healing.
The Call For The Afflicted, 3a
James 5:13-18
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
In this passage of scripture, we identify with three distinct groups: those who are afflicted, those who are merry, and those who are sick. We start with straightforward instructions for affliction and those who are merry, but we reach specifically with those who are sick. When you are sick, there are specific instructions. Call for the elders of the Church (your congregation) (1 Peter 5:1-5). In Church, these should represent seasoned experienced ministers who are trained and ordained (Acts 14:22-23) to do the work of the ministry. These are not novices, and they are knowledgeable of the doctrine of the Church and the Word of God (1 Timothy 5:17-19). If you can not recognize the elders of the Church, you have a problem. Can you call for the elders of your Church?
Ehyeh asher Ehyeh, The eternal, all-sufficient God, Exodus 3:14; we thank you for being our all-sufficient God, one who has everything. We praise You for instruction for calling the elders of the Church when we are sick. Therefore, we decree and declare the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who are sick; so that; we who are elders will proclaim Your Scriptures and exalt Your Name. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
