Healing Pain During Covid-19
These verses collectively and individually address our pain, how we identify with adversity, and answers from God. This collection of comforting scriptures will help guide you toward whole and complete healing.
The Call For The Afflicted, 4a
James 5:13-18
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
The popular commentaries describe prayer in three different modes, personal, community, and corporate. In James 5:16, we see the direction for community prayer. In James 5:13, we see personal prayer, and in James 5:14, we see corporate prayer. The movement to pray one for another is critical for healing. If we unwrap the bindings of the community, we will find a source for strength (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Matthew 18:19-20). Those who will challenge the community prayer principle want to signify the latter part of verse 16 …the righteous man (singular). We trust that there is more than one righteous person with faith in the community of believers, and where two or three are gathered, let God be found with fasting and prayer (Daniel 9:3, Matthew 17:21, Mark 9:29, Luke 2:37, I Corinthians 7:5)! Will you pray as a righteous faithful person with the support of a like-minded community?
Jehovah Gibbor Milchamah, The LORD Mighty In Battle - Psalm 24:8; we thank You for being our Lord Mighty in Battle. We praise You for revealing to us the modes of prayer- personal, community and corporate. Therefore, we decree and declare the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who are righteous with faith; so that; we who look for the combined faith of the community will be healed for the Glory of God. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
