The Call For The Afflicted, 5c
James 5:13-18
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
In this parcel of scripture (James 5:18), Elijah responded to the "Grand Staff" of God's operation (Psalm 147:5, Isaiah 55:9). The punishment of Israel began with the rejection of His Grace. Due to their rebellion, God called His vessel (Elijah) to flow His Mercy. James emphasized the necessity of prayer and gave us the testimony of Israel as God used Elijah to bring judgment to them for rebellion (1 Kings 17:1). In this passage, Elijah obeyed the Will of God and partitioned to release them from the judgment of drought. How powerful is your prayer? Will your prayer be the reflection of God's will?
Jehovah Elohim Ab, The LORD God of your forefathers - Joshua 18:3; we thank You, LORD God, of our forefathers for the understanding of Your Will. We praise You for the method of prayer which allows us to hear You and to respond our obedience to Your Will through prayer. Therefore, we declare and decree the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who seek to do Your Will as the Truth of God; so that, we who listen to do Your voice will command Heaven. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
