The Fiery Trial - 11
1 Peter 4:12-19
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
The presentation of this question in verse 18 is very provocative: 'if the righteous scarcely are saved, where will the ungodly and sinners stand?' If you are a sinner and ungodly this should cause you to worry (Psalm 1:4-6). The promotion of healing for sinners is not a viable alternative for their lifestyle because the proposition of the righteous finding salvation is based upon the subject of a lifestyle which is anti-sinner (Jeremiah 30:17). Sinners and the ungodly reject by choice the suffering of Christ which allows us to fulfill the requirement to benefit as partakers of His Glory which allows for healing of pain (James 5:20, Hebrews 10:26). Where will you stand, in the division of the righteous and sinners?
Jehovah Roi, The LORD My Shepherd - Psalm 23:1; we thank You for being the Lord, my shepherd. We praise You for clearing the pathway of the righteous for salvation through Jesus Christ. We declare and decree the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who are scarcely saved by Grace of God; so that, those who choose to be ungodly and sinners may find hope in salvation. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
