The Fiery Trial - 5
1 Peter 4:12-19
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
Being the point of everybody’s laughter or scorn for the cause of Christ is a reason to be happy (1 Peter 4:13). Maintain the pivot point “for the cause of Christ,” reproach is blatant disapproval or significant disappointment (1 Peter 4:4-5). In culture throughout the ages, a good name is hard to keep; however, should your name be questioned because of your belief in Christ as your savior, “don’t worry, be happy.” 1 Peter 3:14-17 “But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to answer every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.” Will you dare to be ridiculed for the sake of Christ? See Addendum
Jehovah Mekaddishkem, The LORD that Sanctifies You - Exodus 31:13; we thank You for being the Lord that sanctifies us. We praise you for the opportunity to be reproached for Your name sake. We declare and decree the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who suffer for the cause of Christ; so that, the Spirit which bears witness rewards us with joy in the time of judgment. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
