The Healing Visit: The Answer -3
Jeremiah 15:19-21
Therefore thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, [and] thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto thee; but return not thou unto them. And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I [am] with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD. And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
In this section of the passage (Jeremiah 15:19), where God answers Jeremiah, we continue to parse the reply wherein God instructs Jeremiah that Isreal can return to him. Still, he is not to return to them. This action is a serious consideration. Who is returning to who? God knew if Jeremiah made an effort to pull the precious from the vile, then he would have to represent God as His prophet and priest (1 Kings 17:1; 1 Kings 18:15; 2 Kings 3:14). We are often tempted to choose between righteous zeal and despondent bitterness (Ellicott). Jeremiah was given the opportunity to choose the Godly right thing, which was difficult, instead of settling for the easy wrong thing. What choices do you make to be God's spokesperson?
El Simchath Gili, God My Exceeding Joy - Psalm 43:4; we thank You for being our God my exceeding Joy. We praise You for instruction to do Your Will. Therefore, we decree and declare the blessing (the indwelling of the Holy Spirit) upon those who hear instruction and obey; so that, we who follow the Lord follow His purpose. Now, for the Kingdom and Glory of God, we petition, with the anointing of the Holy Ghost, in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
