Walking Not Wading- Examples of Jesus
Walking on water - Skeptics are beside themselves when it comes to things that fit outside their comfort zone of belief, so it is almost impossible to believe that anybody could walk on water, but it happen. Matthew 14:22-32; reveals the incident with the vision of the tax collector turned apostle. Matthew 14:29-31 shows us the power of belief as Peter (the rock) walked out onto the lake to Jesus, but lacking faith, he became afraid and missed the performance of his faith.
Mark 6:47-52; condenses the story of Jesus walking on water and emphasizes the forgetfulness of the apostles memory, the performance of Jesus just hours before, with the miracle of the loaves. How shockingly this resembles our Christian lifestyle where we so easily forget the miracles of Jesus when we are hungry, and He feeds us, and we, in turn, forget the Grace passed at the table. His performance is never-ending.
John 6:16-21; the destination of their journey is revealed as Capernaum, and the details of this narrative are short, however, look deeper. Jesus understood the hunger of the followers and knew why they followed him (John 6:26-27). For us to walk like Jesus walked, we must be willing to walk by His Faith and be not afraid of the wind or the waves. His power is in us if we believe and have Faith, we can walk on anything.
Matthew 14:22-32
And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth [his] hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
The LORD Will Provide, Jehovah Jireh (Genesis 22:14), we thank You for our scope of Faith in the performance of Your Works. We praise You for our capacity to walk by Faith. We decree and declare blessings upon those who forget not the things that You have taught us, so that; by remembering the things that You have done, we now do with Your Faith. Now, for the Kingdom and the Glory of God, we petition, with anointing in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior, Amen.
